i bet you did, you saucy minx
Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:16AM And now for Josh Feit’s follow-up to last week’s story in The Stranger, in which he basically tells his critics to suck on it—and Brav-fucking-o, Josh, for covering this story and opening yourself up to the slew of hatemail which certainly followed. Hell, I’m getting hate mail and this weekly doesn’t have a particularly large circulation. Way to stick to your guns, mate. Now, as it has been pointed out to me, I did not witness the incident and therefore do not know exactly what happened, but until such time as Nichols/Garman comes right out and says he didn’t beat the shit out of his girlfriend [And to my knowledge, he has said no such thing, limiting his public comments to the vague statement that there is “more to it than what’s in the report” and his private comments (which again, are hearsay) to an admission of reponsibility] I’m just going to go with my present interpretation of the events and continue thinking that despite his much-beloved hipster status, the man isn’t above clocking his girlfriend when she gets out of line.
And again, I’d like to reiterate that I have not heard ONE FUCKING WORD saying that this guy did not, in fact, beat up his girlfriend. I keep hearing that he’s a great guy and that he’s super nice and that he’s not the type and that I don’t know the full story and that the media is misleading us and you know what? Fuck that. Fuck that right in its fucking ass. Was she lying? Did she have a gun? A knife? What else is there to understand? Either he physically abused her or he didn’t. If he didn’t, I’d like to know—and I will recant anything negative I have said or intimated. If he did, his vintage tee-shirt wearing indie-rock loving ass can rot in prison for all I fucking care. This culture of silence and rationalization is what perpetuates the cycle of domestic violence, this “Oh, but he’s such a nice guy” and “If you only knew the full story” and “He was drunk or provoked.” That’s fucking bullshit. Tell me he didn’t do it. Tell me she lied. Tell me she threatened him with a machete and he was merely fighting for his life, but don’t try and sell me this “he’s a nice guy and there are extenuating circumstances” line because I’m not biting.
In related news, I no longer see Matt’s name in the KEXP programming. Don’t know if he’s been shit-canned or not. Hope so.

You, my non-friend, are a stupid and reactionary piece of nothing. Keep on watching fox news.
if you have anything else to contribute, i'd love to hear it.
hey, you don't know his girlfriend, by any chance, do you? someone claiming to be her emailed me a couple of times and i'm wondering if it's actually her.
also, not sure what your opening questions mean. yeah, he's kind of a hipster. are you taking issue with my definition of the term? the girlfriend getting out of line part was clearly a rhetorical device. and as for the culture of silence and rationalization, are you familiar with domestic violence at all? these are pretty common terms. it's sounds like those questions were meant to be insulting somehow, but i don't really get it. probably because i am stupid, no?
